Shutter Test Video
This video footage was captured from the safety tests to the StormTech shutter. Three different areas of the panel were tested producing some minor dents.
Wall Panel Test Video
This video footage was captured from the safety tests to the StormTech wall panels. The first impact tests the joint between panels. The second test the strength of the panel itself.
Testing Facility
FEMA approved testing for the StormTech Safe Room and StormTech Shutter was performed by the Wind Engineering Department at Texas Tech University
Wind Cannon
Impact resistance is tested by shooting an 15 lb. 2x4 out of this compressed air cannon at various points on the test assemblies.
StormTech Wall Section
A test assembly of the Storm Room Panels is set up for testing at the lab. Potentially vulnerable points are targeted for direct impacts.
Impact
The panel passes the test. Among the impacts is a direct hit on the wall stud. These impacts represent the force generated by wind speeds in excess of 250 miles per hour.
StormTech Shutter Test
Here the StormTech Shutter assembly is set up for a test. The seam between the shutter doors is targeted to test the locking mechanism.
StormTech Shutter Impact
The Storm Shutter resists the impact and passes the test. Again these tests represent projectiles that are being blown by winds in excess of 250 miles per hour.
Safety Tests
Testing Site: Texas Tech - Wind Engeneering Department
Date: June 2010
Windspeed: +250mph
Standard: FEMA 320 (Residential), FEMA 361 (Commercial)
